FAQ

Answers to common questions about Cue: what it can do, what it can't, privacy, pricing, and how it fits into your workflow.

Do I need to know expressions or scripting?

No. You describe the result and it writes whatever is needed. If it uses an expression, you’ll see it in the timeline like any other expression, and you can ask it to explain what it does.

Does it work with my existing projects?

Yes. It works in whatever project you have open, with your layers, comps and footage. It’s best to save before big changes, as you would anyway.

Is what it makes editable?

Yes. Everything is ordinary After Effects work: layers, keyframes, effects, expressions, text, shapes and masks. Nothing is baked into a video or locked in a template.

Can I undo its changes?

Yes. Every change it makes is a normal, named step in Edit ▸ History, so Cmd+Z or Ctrl+Z steps back through them one at a time, and the panel lists what each request changed. Before big changes it can also save a restore point of the comp and put it back when you ask. See Undo and safety.

What can’t it do?

  • Create footage or images from nothing. It animates and styles what’s in your project.
  • Reliably operate every third-party plugin.
  • Replace your taste. It’s fast at execution; you decide what looks good.
  • Work offline.
  • Make changes while After Effects has a dialog open.

Which versions of After Effects are supported?

After Effects 2024 (24.0) or newer, on macOS 14 Sonoma or newer (Apple silicon or Intel) or Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).

Does it work in Premiere Pro or other apps?

Not today. It’s built for After Effects.

Is my project uploaded?

No. Your project file and footage stay on your computer. During a request, the panel sends your message, the parts of your comp it needs to understand (layer names, settings, keyframe values) and the preview frames it renders. See the privacy policy.

Which AI does it use?

Google’s Gemini models, through our servers. You don’t need your own AI account or key.

Yes. Only use videos you’re allowed to analyze; a public tutorial you’re learning from is the normal case. See Learn from any tutorial link.

How much does it cost?

You start with 300 free credits and no card. After that, choose a monthly plan or buy top-ups. See pricing and Credits and billing.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Yes. Sign in on each computer with the same account. Your credits and conversations follow you.

Can my team share an account?

Each person should have their own account. Team billing is something we’re considering. Email support@cue.example if you’d use it.

How do I cancel?

Go to your account and choose Manage billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

How do I uninstall it?

Run the installer again and choose uninstall. On a Mac you can also delete it using the uninstaller included with the download. Your account and credits aren’t affected.
