Tell After Effects what to animate

Cue is a chat panel inside After Effects. Describe a move, or paste a tutorial link and say “do this”, and it builds real keyframes, effects and expressions in your open comp.

Early access is invite-only while we polish Cue.

Up and running in five minutes

After Effects 2024 (24.0) or newer, on macOS or Windows.

  1. 01

    Install the panel

Run the installer for Mac or Windows and restart After Effects. No scripts, no settings to change.

  2. 02

  3. 03

    Say what you want

Brief it like you’d brief a colleague. It works in your open comp, checks frames as it goes, and tells you what it changed.

Tutorial links

Found a tutorial? Paste the link

Drop in a YouTube, TikTok or Instagram Reels link and say “do this”. Cue watches the video, writes down every step with the settings it reads off the screen, and rebuilds it in your comp with your layers, your text and your colours.

YouTube links work directly. TikTok, Reels and video files are downloaded small on your computer first. Only use videos you have the right to use; tutorials are analysed by Google Gemini. How tutorial links work

What it’s good at, and what it isn’t

  • Keyframes and easing

Position, scale, rotation, opacity or any property. Easy eases, overshoot, bounce, holds.

  • Text and lower thirds

Text layers, animators, per-character reveals, kinetic type, titles that fit your brand colours.

  • Shapes and masks

Shape layers, trim paths, wipes, reveals, track mattes.

  • Effects

The built-in ones you already use: Glow, Fill, Drop Shadow, blurs, Turbulent Displace, colour correction.

  • Expressions

wiggle, loopOut, links to sliders. Written for you, explained in plain words if you ask.

  • The tedious parts

Stagger 40 layers, rename, relabel, precompose, trim to markers, line things up.

It can’t (yet)

  • Generate footage, photos or illustrations from nothing.
  • Reliably drive third-party plugins it can’t inspect.
  • Replace your eye. It gets you most of the way; you steer the rest.
  • Copy every tutorial pixel for pixel. Expect the technique, adapted to your comp.
  • Work offline, or edit while a dialog is open in After Effects.

Works in your project. Every step is yours to undo

Every change is in your History
Each change Cue makes is a normal, named step in Edit ▸ History. Cmd+Z or Ctrl+Z steps back through them, one at a time.
A restore point before big changes
Before a large change, like following a tutorial, it can save a copy of the comp in your project and put it back exactly as it was when you ask.
It tells you what it touched
Every layer and property it changes is listed in the chat, in plain words.
Your files stay yours
Your project and footage stay on your computer. It sends only what a request needs: your message, the layer details it reads, and the frames it checks.

Questions

How do I get access?

Early access is invite-only while we polish Cue. Leave your email at the top of this page and we’ll email you when your spot opens.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No. You get 300 free credits when you sign up, with no card. You only pay if you choose a plan or a top-up later.

Which versions of After Effects does it work with?

After Effects 2024 (24.0) or newer, on macOS 14 Sonoma or newer (Apple silicon or Intel) or Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).

Will it mess up my project?

It only changes what you ask for, in the comp you have open, and every change it makes is a normal step in Edit ▸ History, so Cmd+Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) steps back through them. Before big changes it can save a restore point of the comp and put it back when you ask.

What is a credit?

A credit is about one cent of AI usage. A small change takes about 5–10 credits, a build about 20–40, and following a tutorial about 60–120. The trial is about 10 builds or a couple of tutorials, and the panel shows what each request used.

Is my footage uploaded?

No. Your project and footage stay on your computer. While it works, the panel sends your message, the layer details it reads and the frames it checks, so the AI can answer. Tutorial videos you link are analysed by Google Gemini.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your account page in two clicks. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and top-up credits stay on your account.
